Understanding English Prepositions: In, On, At for Time and Place

Prepositions are small words that cause big problems for English learners. Master the rules for using in, on, and at correctly with time and place expressions.

Why Prepositions Are Difficult for Myanmar Speakers

Myanmar uses particles (က, မှာ, တွင်, သို့) differently than English prepositions. In Myanmar, you might use the same word for different contexts, but English requires specific prepositions for specific situations.

Common Myanmar Thinking:

မြန်မာလို "မနက်မှာ" (in the morning)

မြန်မာလို "တနင်္လာနေ့မှာ" (on Monday)

မြန်မာလို "၉ နာရီမှာ" (at 9 o'clock)

Same word "မှာ" but different English prepositions!

The key is learning specific patterns and rules rather than trying to translate from Myanmar.
